Cassie your fashion style blogger has search the streets of West Nipissing to stumbled upon a girl with lots of style. What does fashion really mean? What do people these days consider as fashion? What does this generation wear and why would they choses these particular looks? Well I’m going to tell you what this one girl told me about what she thinks and believes fashion is once I found her on Roy Street, Sturgeon Falls, ON, and she’ll let use in on some of her tips. But I can’t use her name or her face because she would rather stay anonymous.

This is what she said when I told her to explain her first outfit to me. She said, “my first outfit choice is a black lase crop top which I bought for 10$ at Stiches. With a pair of high wasted blue jeans that I also got at an amazing price of 10$ and guess where I bought? If you guest Stiches you are completely right. To bring it all together I chose to wear a pair of black high heels that have multiple small gems on the back. I bought these heels at Le Chateau for 35$. This outfit is great for a trip to town or a trip to the city. It is also very fun and flirtatious. This shirt in particular can be worn two different ways. On the shoulders which covers a bit more or you can wear it off the shoulder which makes it look more risky and flirtations but it still looks really nice and put together. The reason why I picked these high wasted pants was because high wasted pants are a lot more flattering especially with the right crop top. Well actually most crop tops for that matter. But lets get back to those jeans. Having them high wasted really accentuates your curves even if you don’t have much. Last but not least lets talk about those killer high heels. The black heels makes the outfit have just a bit of an edge. The reason why I’m saying this is because of the subtle point at the end and the multiple tinny, little gem stones gives it just the right amount of class.” Honestly I agree with her 100%. Wow she has style!

Her second outfit is perfect for an interview. She said that she wore this outfit at her interview with the judges at her last pageant. She bought every one of the pieces at Le Chateau. Her black dress was about 85$. The beautiful scarf was 30$ and her heels were about the same price as the scarf. She said, “the reason why I bought this dress over the others was because this dress was very appropriate for an interview and not only that, I love how simple it was.” I told her that I believed the reason behind that was because with such a simple dress you can really dazzle it up with whatever colored scarf, purse or shoes you want. Just make sure that they’re not black and make sure that they’re not all the same color. For example if you buy a bleu purse then get a pair of bleu 1 1/2″ to 2″ heels. The scarf is usually pretty simple to buy. The scarf you need to match with your chosen color pallet but not too much or you’ll look too “matchy” which isn’t good either. She completely agreed with me.

I asked her if she would need to sum up what she does when she looks for a good outfit this is what she said, “I usually look for something that isn’t too pricy since I know I am still growing and I will eventually grow out of it. Another thing that I Iook for in an outfit is that I can use it on multiple occasions. Even if I need to switch it up a bit with different accessories it will still look nice and affordable. But make sure you look unique and not cheap.” Because you don’t always need to spend lots of money to look amazing which is something I also live by.

West Nipissing is a great area to live in and to visit. West Nipissing consists of multiple little towns like; Sturgeon Falls, Cache Bay, Verner, Field, Crystal Falls, Lavigne, Kipling, North Monetville, Desaulniers, Evansville and etc. It’s a municipality in Northeastern Ontario, Canada, on Lake Nipissing in the Nipissing District. It is also the most bilingual community in Ontario, with about 70% of its people speaking fluently in English and French. Roughly half of its population is in Sturgeon Falls. How interesting, right?

But enough with all those facts. I’m going to talk about my favourite place to visit in my area of representation. One of my favorite places to visit in West Nipissing is the government dock, also known as Minnehaha Bay. There are many different things you can do there, like going boating for instance. Boating is a very fun activity. There are so many different things you can do with and/or on a boat. You can go fishing, water skiing, kneeboarding, parasailing, and tubing or just have plain old fun driving your boat. Whatever floats your boat, right? You could also go kayaking and canoeing. But just make sure you don’t create a wake (minimal amount of waves/speed)!

Another thing you could do is visit Twiggs Coffee Roasters. If you’re looking for the freshest coffee in town Twiggs is the place to go. They actually blend and roast they’re own coffee beans in house every morning. They will also guarantee you a unique and satisfying cup of coffee every time. But what else do they have other than amazing coffee? They have delicious homemade lunches, desserts, specialty teas and fresh juices. To add on they also have very high standers when it comes to having the freshest ingredients for their really healthy menu selections. It’s honestly one of my favorite places to hang out with my friends.

What else can I do at the Minnehaha Bay you might ask? Well just at the top of the hill there’s a small but very fun splash park. It’s good for all ages and it’s family friendly. Our splash park is fun to visit on a hot day and it’s a great place to go with small kids because even if they don’t want to go to the splashpark we have a fun play structure right beside. Plus if you’re there to relax there are trees and benches where you would be able to read a book or have a relaxing conversation with some of your family or friends.

Were you going to ask if there’s anything else you should know about? Have you ever heard of Rock ‘N’ Ribs? Well I have and I go every year. Rock ‘N’ Ribs is a fun and family friendly music and rib festival. It’s one of the fastest growing rib festival and outdoor music concerts in Northern Ontario. They feature some of the best headline acts that preform for an amazing 12 hours. I even remember watching Sturgeon’s own High Holly Days the first year of this event. It was awesome!! They have some of the best Canadian artist and bands and some of our own West Nipissing residence play and/or sing at the festival. They also award winning professional rib teams that compete for prizes and bragging rights. It’s also organized by a local not-for-profit while supporting local organization and charities. It’s a one day festival held during the summer. They also have a great and fun kids zone which has a climbing wall! How fun!!!

Make sure your next family vacation is in West Nipissing and come visit beautiful Minnehaha Bay. It doesn’t matter wether you are a type of person looking for a thrills or someone who’s looking to have more of a relaxing day because Minnehaha Bay is the place to be!

The last pageant that I participated in was the Miss North Ontario Regional Canada Pageant. My platform for this pageant was about suicide and how we should try to help people who are suffering from it. Well this time around I’m going to go more in detail about the reasons why people would consider this an option and how we can help these people. There are multiple reasons why a person would rather take away their life then continuing with the one that they were given. Their reasons might consist of depression, bullying, eating disorders, PTSD and etc. But what I want to talk to you about today is post-traumatic stress disorder, especially in our troops. What’s PTSD you might ask? PTSD is a mental health condition. This disorder usually occurs after experiencing or witnessing a petrifying event. Examples of the different events that might be a cause of PTSD are the following; an accident, naturel disaster, abuse, seeing death and etc. Having had family who as war veterans have suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder, it is my goal as Miss Teenage Canada to raise awareness and support. So we can acknowledge firstly the men and women that put their own lives on the line every day to fight for our beautiful country. But also to help the rest of the people from this wonderful country that are also suffering from PTSD. The least we can do for our troops is to lend a helping hand because we all know how much they have been through and sacrificed for our freedom. NO MAN LEFT BEHIND.

Sincerely,

Miss Teenage West Nipissing

Hello everyone, I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Cassandra, I am 14 years old and representing the region of my upbringing, West Nipissing. I’m the daughter of Chantal and Patrick. I have a little 10 year old sister named Zoé and family is very important to me. I love visual art and I love sports. I played soccer for 6 years, badminton and volleyball for 3. I’ve also achieved the highest grades in my class.

How did I get where I am today? Well a couple months ago I got asked to participate in the Miss North Ontario Regional Canada Pageant. After I got accepted I started my journey in the pageant world. Going into it I was very shy and wanted to get out of my shell. My first pageant really helped me with that. When I was there I met one of the judges (Lynn Gauvreau) who later on became my coach. I won Best Presentation in Evening Gown and I also won the chance to go in the running for Miss Teenage Canada.

As soon as I could I went around my area of representation asking for their support by sponsoring me and/or buying advertisement for the program book. West Nipissing is a very friendly community that loves to give. I’ll be heading down to Toronto in two weeks. I can’t wait to meet everyone! I’m so happy that I’m representing West Nipissing! Thank you for reading.

Sincerely,

Cassandra
